Since the trail is not paved, you will need a mountain bike or a hybrid bike with trail tires. Shocks for your bike are not needed. You will be sharing a hotel room with one other person, so it is recommended you sign up with a partner.

What you'll do

Participate in the annual Mickelson Trail Trek Tour in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Hopefully a small group of bicyclists can carpool to the Custer, SD area. Hotel reservations have already been made for three rooms in the Custer area. Once we get there, shuttle transportation is provided. The trail is not at all difficult, but altogether, participants will log around 110 miles of bike riding in three days. All of the riding will be on the Mickelson trail which is a rail trails with a mild grade. For more information or to sign up for the tour, send an email to kevin@trailsnet.com.
